About Charlotte
My Story
My name is Charlotte and I live in North London with my husband and pets. I am a 52-year-old mother of three adult(ish) children. My three births covered a wide spectrum of experiences, with my first being an instrumental birth in a hospital setting, the second a water birth in a birth centre, and the third at home. I have felt drawn to birth work for the last 20 years, and now that my children are grown I have the time and space to finally fulfil my dream to offer support to birthing people so they can have positive birth and postnatal experiences.
I suffered badly with postnatal depression after the birth of each of my babies, made worse by loneliness and lack of support.
My aim is to make every new parent feel secure, safe and supported in their parenting choices so that they can enjoy this life-changing experience.
I am currently a mentored doula, continuing my training under the guidance of a more experienced doula. This means that my fees are cost-effective, as I am in the learning phase of my career. I offer both birth and postnatal support, and am able to support you for as long as you wish.
I’ve experienced a hospital birth, water birth, and home birth. Now that my babies have flown the nest, I have the time and space to offer birth and postnatal support to others.

I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome birth and postnatal doula clients of any gender and sexuality.
Fun facts about me
Here are a few more things you may want to know about me (or may already know if you’ve Googled).
I have a PhD in Cell Biology.
I did my thesis on osteoporosis (yes, growing babies can be hard on your bones - don’t worry, I have tips for this).
I won The Great British Sewing Bee in 2016. My kids nominated me for the show. It was amazing.
My love of sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting knows no bounds (almost 100% of my wardrobe is handmade. Yes, even my pants and bras).
I love tattoos and the one on my right arm is a nod to motherhood (and my three chicks).
